Disclaimer - Please Read Carefully:
At Broadway Poultry we endeavour to produce fertile eggs that are suitable for incubation by natural means and artificial incubation. We feed our fowls a recognised breeders' ration and regularly conduct test hatches of eggs of each of our breeds. Occasionally a breed does not produce eggs of a sufficient degree of fertility for us to be happy to sell their eggs and when this happens we remove the breed from our list of breeds, either temporarily or permanently. We suggest that purchasers of our eggs candle them just prior to day seven of incubation, as by this stage even a novice should be able to determine if an egg has an embryo that has begun to develop or not. We are happy to discuss issues of fertility at this stage. However, the operation of incubators and the management of broody hens is out of our control and we are not able to accept responsibility for chicks which fail to hatch from fertile eggs. Many factors have a bearing on your success at incubation, including your management skills in operating the incubator, for example maintaining a uniform temperature and appropriate humidity during the incubation and hatching process, or your management of the broody hen, for example lice control and keeping other hens off the broody's nest. If you need advice on how best to manage either your incubator or a broody hen, feel free to ask, as we'll be happy to help if possible.
Furthermore, if the percentage of the eggs you purchased has a fertility of 75% or greater, we will not replace eggs for those that were infertile. What needs to be understood is that not EVERY egg will be fertile. Even in a commercial hatching environment, the standard of 75% fertility is acceptable. Do not confuse fertility and hatchability. Fertility is our responsibility, hatchability is yours. Fertility issues must be brought to our attention within 7 days of purchase.
